1940’s… In the atmosphere of World War 2… The period when the poverty and misery arise most in Anatolia. Nahide is one of the poor girls, who lives under brutal circumstances
and is not aware of what they experience. Nahide was deeply effected with her best friend’s suicide, who was forced to be married to a landlord, who was far older than she was. On this occasion, Nahide’s primary school teacher wants her to change this ill fate. The best path to take is going to one of the Village Institutes to get education.
However; things will drive Nahide to the brink of the abyss. Nahide is determined to go to school. Her effort having an education by acting and dressing like a boy will, in fact, be
a sign of a new educational campaign in Anatolia.
